The Problem with Legal Services Today

Finding a good lawyer should not feel like gambling. Yet for most people, the process looks something like this:

  1. Google "lawyer near me"
  2. Click on the first few results (which are paid ads)
  3. Call around and hope for the best
  4. Pay thousands of dollars with no way to predict the outcome

There is a massive information asymmetry between lawyers and the people who hire them. Lawyers know their track records. Clients do not.

LawyerServed exists to close that gap.

How Our Ratings Work

Our lawyer profiles combine three independent data sources to create a comprehensive picture of each attorney's practice.

1. Verified Court Data

We aggregate publicly available court records to build objective performance metrics. This includes:

  • Case outcomes (wins, losses, settlements)
  • Case types handled
  • Jurisdictions where they have appeared
  • Volume of cases over time

This data comes from public records that are already available but scattered across dozens of different court systems. We bring it together in one place.

2. Client Reviews

Our review system uses five distinct rating dimensions instead of a single star rating:

  • Communication — How well does the lawyer keep you informed?
  • Legal Knowledge — How competent are they in their practice area?
  • Responsiveness — How quickly do they respond to inquiries?
  • Professionalism — How do they conduct themselves?
  • Value for Money — Is the outcome worth the cost?

Each dimension is rated on a 1 to 5 scale. The aggregate rating is the average across all five dimensions, weighted equally.

Single-number ratings hide more than they reveal. A lawyer might have excellent legal knowledge but poor communication. Our multi-dimensional approach gives you the full picture.

3. Bar Association Records

We pull licensing and disciplinary data directly from state bar associations and provincial law societies:

  • License status (active, inactive, suspended)
  • Disciplinary history
  • Practice areas registered
  • Year of admission

This ensures every profile reflects the lawyer's current standing with their regulatory body.

What Makes Our Approach Different

Data-Driven, Not Ad-Driven

Most legal directories rank lawyers based on who pays the most for advertising. LawyerServed ranks based on verified performance data. We do not sell ad placements that influence search results.

Review Moderation

Every review goes through our moderation process to ensure:

  • The reviewer has a verified account
  • The content is factual and relevant
  • No personally identifiable information is exposed
  • The review complies with legal advertising regulations (ABA and FLSC guidelines)

Lawyer Response Rights

Lawyers can respond to reviews using compliance-safe templates. This ensures both sides of the story are represented while maintaining legal advertising compliance.

Continuous Updates

Our data pipeline runs continuously, pulling fresh data from bar associations across the United States and Canada. Profiles are updated as new information becomes available, not on a manual schedule.

Understanding the Numbers

When you see a lawyer's profile on LawyerServed, here is how to interpret the key metrics:

| Metric | What It Means | |--------|--------------| | Aggregate Rating | Average of all five review dimensions (1.0 to 5.0) | | Total Reviews | Number of verified client reviews | | Years of Experience | Time since bar admission | | Cases Handled | Volume of court appearances in our records | | Win Rate | Percentage of favorable outcomes in litigated cases |

Our Commitment to Accuracy

We take data accuracy seriously. Every lawyer profile includes:

  • Source attribution for all data points
  • A mechanism for lawyers to report inaccuracies
  • A claiming process where lawyers can verify and enhance their own profiles
  • Clear labeling of unclaimed profiles as based on public records

If you are a lawyer and see an inaccuracy on your profile, you can claim your profile and request corrections through our verification process.

The Path Forward

LawyerServed is building the largest verified lawyer performance dataset in North America. With profiles covering 1.47 million lawyers across the US and Canada, we are bringing the same level of transparency to legal services that already exists in industries like hospitality and e-commerce.

Because when it comes to legal representation, you deserve to make an informed choice.
